Below are a few professional tips & tricks to help you achieve the show-stopping eyebrows you are dreaming of...

Why are eyebrows an important feature?

Before I reveal how you can get the best brows, it is important to understand why they are an important design feature of your face.  In addition to their ‘traditional’ role of keeping dust, dirt and sweat out of your eyes, a designed set of eyebrows can also:

  • Make you to look more youthful

  • ‘Frame’ your eyes

  • Refine your look

  • Balance your face

  • Alter the perceived shape of your face

Additionally, a study by the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) also concluded that eyebrows have a strong significance in emotional expression and facial recognition.  So there you have it – the importance of eyebrows is backed by science!

The Beauty by Bhavini mantra for naturally perfect brows

With so much information out there and so many eyebrow fashion trends, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and even put off the idea of doing anything with your eyebrows.

Here are three simple rules recommended by Beauty by Bhavini

1. Do not pluck…

Although it may seem easy, there are disadvantages to eyebrow plucking.  Firstly, you can scar yourself by inadvertently tearing your skin – this can result in uneven skin tone in the affected area.  Secondly, plucked hairs do not always grow back, which means you may lose the affected hair follicle… and ultimately pluck away your chances of growing thicker, fuller brows.  Additionally, plucking also raises a risk of infection by creating exposed openings in the skin and also raises the possibility of ingrowing hairs.

2. Let them grow…

If you want naturally fuller eyebrows, the best way to start by leaving them alone.  Stop all threading, plucking, waxing, and any other form of eyebrow hair removal for up to 12 weeks.  Yes I do understand that sounds like ‘forever’ if you are not happy with your eyebrows!   But fear not – you will not grow a bushy caterpillar over your eyelids.  As undesirable as this may seem, it is a required foundation for naturally fuller eyebrows.  It is also mandatory for the next step – perfecting the shape!  To really set yourself up for success in this stage, use a growth serum to help boost hair growth and healthy follicles. Let them grow for about 6 to 10 weeks (or more if your eyebrows are over plucked ) and then….

3. Leave the shaping to the professionals!

Brow trends will come and go, but a set of well-designed, natural looking set of brows will always remain in style.  Proportion, symmetry and balance are key in achieving brows which can truly unlock the beauty of your face.  Having celebrity brows is not myth – they are just a phone call away!

Insider tips to make every day a good brow day

In the meantime, here are a few insider tips to help you start having the best brow day – everyday!

  • Remember every face shape is different – your brows need to be designed and shaped to perfectly suit the structure of your face

  • The shape of a teenager’s brows in comparison to a mature woman’s will be different.  Why?  Because as we age, our facial structure changes and so the design of your brows needs to evolve too

  • Be it threading, waxing, or plucking – everyone has their preferred method of managing their brows.  But if you ask me, threading is certainly faster and more precise

  • For any event, preparation is essential.  Just as you may begin to plan your outfit months in advance, you should also to start thinking about getting your eyebrows into shape months in advance too…!

  • Many ladies have been there with the over-plucked 80’s and 90’s brow trends.  Whilst these can be harder to recover from, there are solutions in the form of Microblading, Nano Brows, and Powder Brows – which are more semi-permanent to permanent options

  • Sometimes, you just need that little extra to perk your brows up.  In this case, your options include Brow Tinting, Lamination or Henna.
