5 popular eyebrow treatments explained: All you need to know
Gone are the days of the nineties over-plucked skinny brows. Bold, thick, and natural-looking brows are the way to roll!
However, while bold brows are the current trend, let’s face it, not all of us have perfect brows, most of us need an expert help. So, if you’re wondering – what can I do to enhance my eyebrows? – we’ve got just the tips for you!
Ahead, we break down some of the most popular temporary eyebrow treatments you can consider incorporating into your beauty routine without a long-term commitment.
Five temporary eyebrow treatments to consider
Whether you need help restoring your shape or taking the first step towards trialing brow enhancement treatments, these five options will help you achieve brow perfection.
1. Threading
Originating in India, this organic hair removal technique is known to be one of the most precise forms of hair removal. Using a cotton thread, experts softly pluck the unanted hairs out of the follicles. Threading is ideal for sensitive skin, any kind of bold/thin/unruly/sparse eyebrows but need an expert hand to turn them into perfectly shaped show-stopping brows. You can expect to see regrowth after two to three weeks. Note that the growth rate will vary from person to person.
2. Waxing
Like threading, waxing is a method used to remove hair around the eyebrows to help tidy and enhance the natural shape of the brows.
When waxing your brows, your aesthetician applies a thin layer of warm wax over the area of hair removal. They then take a strip of fabric and place it over the waxed area and - in one swift motion, pull it off to remove the hairs.
So, if you’re blessed with lusciously thick, bold brows, but the shape is lost amongst excessive hair growth, this is the option for you as it is typically suitable for people who want quick hair removal and have heavy hair growth around eyebrows. After waxing remaining hair will be plucked by tweezer or little bit of threading.
Depending on the rate of your hair growth - an eyebrow wax should last two to three weeks before you need to schedule your next appointment.
3. Brow Tinting
Moving on from the hair removal options, if you have fine, transparent, grey or thinning brows – tinting will help your brows appear thicker and fuller.
Eyebrow tinting involves coloring the eyebrows with a dye. In turn, by darkening the hair you can achieve the fuller, well-defined brow look you wish for. Tint goes on hair only. some times with dark color tint skin can get stained for 1 or 2 days.
Eyebrow tinting can last up to a month and slowly fades out.
If you are thinking of getting microblading done and your hair is not very dark, tinting is good option to try out and think about without committing for longterm.
4. Henna brows
Similar to brow tinting, Henna brow not only darken the hair color but also stains the skin underneath. Whilst the dye used in brow tinting mixed with oxidant, Henna is a natural alternative derived from plants and activated with only water.
Recommended for those with sparse eyebrows - henna brows are a good starting point before you consider other brow enhancement treatments, such as powder brows, that require long-term commitment. The henna stain can last up to a week or more on your skin and approximately six weeks on the hair. Before and after could be so dramatically different.
5. Brow lamination
Looking for the celebrity sleek, arched, or fluffy brow? If the answer Is yes, the brow lamination is the solution for you. Brow lamination works to relax and straighten the brow hair in three steps:
- Applying a perming solution to break down the bonds,
- Then use a solution to set the hairs into shape, and
- Applying a brow serum to moisturise the brows.
Out of all the above, brow lamination has the strongest staying power, lasting up to eight weeks.
This treatment can help hiding some sparse space by taming hair on those areas and making eyebrows look much thicker than what it is originally.
